Training is Tops
 West at Work has scooped a top prize at the Evening Post Recruitment Awards.
The project picked up first place in the Best Training Development Scheme category for the bespoke training courses that were created for Bristol's Cabot Circus development.
This training included a variety of courses
covering areas such as retail, catering, security, confidence building and job search skills.
By the end of 2009 around 1,400 local people will have taken one of the dedicated training courses and it is hoped that around 80% of participants will be from disadvantaged communities or groups.
The winning entry was submitted as part of the Cabot Circus Jobs initiative which is a partnership between West at Work and Bristol Alliance who were also awarded a top prize - winning the Corporate Citizenship section for their extensive work in the community and support of local initiatives.
The awards were presented at a special ceremony at Bristol’s Commonwealth and Empire Museum.
West at Work Director David Draycott said: “We are delighted with the Best Training Development Award as it highlights all the hard work that so many people have put in to improving the skills of local people. It also outlines how we can really make a difference through effective successful partnership working across public and private sector agencies.”
